The recruiting of imports is already well under way, as Gottula will also see the field at QB, where he joins AFC Show's excellent Norwegian QB Pål Dannevig and promising youngster Tønnes Smith Egeland. The Show quarterbacks will now enjoy great coaching on the positional level, as Gottula already has experience as QB coach at the NCAA Division II-level, in addition to his background as an offensive coordinator at the high school level and in European club teams.

Of the 2012 imports, DL/LB/TE Darryl Kennon and OL Cody McDermott are confirmed as returning players. McDermott will be back early in 2013, while Kennon already is in Stavanger, where he has a job and is currently learning the language. Kennon will be a major contributor to the offseason program of the team together with Gottula, Vangsnes and Jorma Bailey. AFC Show also plans to bring in 1 or 2 dual/European passport players, but who this will be remains to be seen.

"I know a lot of people will be surprised by my decision to step down, but after evaluating the team's situation and my situation it seemed like the right thing to do at this point in time" Henriksen commented on the changes. "I know we've gotten hold of an excellent coach in Reed Gottula, who will work hard to take the team the next steps on the way. I am proud of what we've created with the AFC Show in the four years the team has been in existence, now it is time for someone else to step in and take the team further", Henriksen said.

Since AFC Show first played a game, there has been two constants: Jarle Magnus Henriksen has been the head coach, and Pål Dannevig has started every game at QB.

The fall of 2012 will see the first of those two constants change, as Coach Henriksen steps down from his position.

Henriksen, who has been coaching since he took over the Sandnes Oilers U-19 program in 1997, will step away from AFC Show both as Athletic Director and head coach of the senior team in 2013.

One of the last actions Henriksen has taken as Athletic Director has been to find his replacement, and that person has accepted the position of head coach of the AFC Show and is already in Stavanger, planning the offseason activities and the 2013 preseason and season.

That person is Reed Gottula. Gottula, a veteran of playing in Europe, hails from Nebraska. He played college football at Fort Hays State, where he started at QB for three and a half seasons. After college he headed for Europe as an import player, where he has won the Swiss Championship in 2007 and the Norwegian Championship in 2011. In other words: He knows what it takes to win the title AFC Show is aiming at.

Gottula will be introduced to the players and staff of AFC Show at a team meeting on Monday the 27th of August. The offseason activities will start shortly after.

Henriksen will still be helping the AFC Show to some extent, working with Gottula on certain aspects, and assisting new Athletic Director Jarle Vangsnes with regards to recruiting imports.
