AFC Show opened the game with an onside kick, but the kick bounced just short of the required 10 yards of distance for a recovery by the kicking team, and the Gladiators subsequently got the ball. Kristiansand wasted no time, getting the ball to RB Levan Abramishvili who easily took advantage of the Show's lack of backside contain. A few plays later QB Chris Heimtun took advantage of the very same lack of contain on a naked boot, making the score 6-0 for the home side, and the Gladiators had the best opening of the game that they could have hoped for.

Another touchdown a little bit later in the 1st quarter followed by yet another one in the 2nd quarter, both by RB Thomas Bringsverd, meant the Gladiators had a 22-0 lead before AFC Show started moving the ball more consistently at the end of the 2nd quarter. Unfortunately for AFC Show, our efforts did not result in a highly desired touchdown before halftime. "Coach Dan Levy has done a great job with the Gladiators and they're a tough opponent for any team at this level of football, but not scoring any points in a half is simply inexusable on our part" said AFC Show head coach Jarle Magnus Henriksen.

The 2nd half saw a better effort from AFC Show, who scored early in the 3rd quarter on a run by Simon Bruset, followed by a pass from QB Pål Dannevig to WR Magnus Vadla for a second touchdown early in the 4th quarter, making the score 22-12 at that point. It was however too little too late, especially when Kristiansand's RB Abramishvili once again sliced through the Show defense on the following drive, putting the score at 28-12. Show never gave up, realising that even with only approximately 2 minutes left of the game, it would be possible to squeeze out a win. However, it was not to be, as opportunities were missed too many times. As the final whistle blew, the Gladiators could celebrate a well-deserved victory, while AFC Show had to travel home with a 0-1 record after playing at a far lower level than the talent and preparations has indicated that the team is able to do.

"We may have played poorly in key situations, but give credit to the Gladiators for playing a big part in making us look bad; there's no doubt they took their challenge seriously today. Now it's up to us to realise we have to take our challenges equally seriously if we're to perform better. That goes for every down of every drive against every opponent we face", Coach Henriksen commented.

AFC Show's next game is at home versus the Tønsberg Raiders on the 14th of May, before the Kristiansand Gladiators visit Stavanger for a much anticipated rematch. For Show it will be very important not to overlook the Raiders, who could easily surprise the Show if the men in pink jerseys don't improve from what they showed in the Kristiansand game.

The first league game of the 2011 season took place in Kristiansand, as the AFC Show travelled to face the home team Kristiansand Gladiators.

AFC Show fielded 33 players and looked like a solid team all the way until...the first down of the game. Show played a horrible 1st half, and just like in Västerås, the home team had a 14-0 lead after a few minutes.

Unlike the Show, the home team played with passion and poise the entire game, and despite being challenged by AFC Show as the game got closer to halftime, the Gladiators held on for a well-deserved and clear 22-0 lead at the break.

The 2nd half saw the Show improve their efforts, but struggling to finish drives and create big plays on both sides of the ball. Despite this, Show did get on the scoreboard twice, but Kristiansand would ultimately prevail, winning 28-12.
